Narrative Short
16mm, 40 minutes

It is England 1880. Seven days in the life of Ana, a young Victorian woman. When her sick father returns home, Ana is forced to come to terms with her incestuous past. Fragment by fragment, behind tightened corsets, veiled expressions and closed doors, a portrait of a woman is painted.

Cast: Maria Galante, Zaniz Jakubowski, Bill Steele

“Liselle Mei’s ANA: PORTRAIT IN DAYS is Bresson-like in its surface inaction and transcendental style. Mei’s experimentation with lighting and sound design wisely serve her storytelling, which is more about mood and subtext than conventional plot and character.”
